During the early 1930’s, Chuck Klein was the National League’s answer to Babe Ruth. However, unlike the Babe, Chuck Klein did not have a team like the Yankees behind him as Klein played for the miserable Philadelphia Phillies. Still, fans flocked to the Baker Bowl to watch Klein hit them out of the park. In 1932, the year he was swinging this stick, Klein led the NL with 38 homers and also led the senior circuit in RBI, hits, runs and stolen bases. When the season ended he was the National League MVP.
This Hillerich & Bradsby 250 Professional Model bat shows heavy use and is un-cracked. There is some checking from repeated ball contact on the barrel and a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle. The bat weights 35 ounces and is 35 inches in length. This is a pre-model era bat but MEARS has determined that the center brand style dates to 1932 and the lack of inch marks differentiate this professional model from store models. This bat comes with a full LOA from MEARS (219159) who have graded this bat an A5.
