Presented here is a bloodstained piece of leather from the backseat of the limousine a Lincoln Continental, in which President Kennedy was riding when he was shot on November 22, 1963. This small square piece of dark blue leather comes from the border of the rear seat. This blood stained leather was kept as a memento by F. Vaughn Ferguson who was the Technical Service Representative of the Ford Motor Company at the White House responsible for the presidential automobiles from the Truman to the Nixon administrations. According to a letter by Ferguson, this leather was removed by him and a White House upholsterer on November 26, 1963.
About 20 years later this piece was obtained by collector Raleigh De Geer Amyx in 1983. It was then given to Dr, John K. Lattimer, who collected artifacts relating to the life and death of President Kennedy. This board includes the mentioned blood stained piece of leather. Is comes encased a black board, decorated with a picture of the President up top, and a short description at the bottom. The matted board stands 11 x 14 inches. This item comes with a LOA from University Archives.
