Joe DiMaggio has signed this 8 x 10 inch black and white photograph in blue ink. This George Burke photograph was used for the 1936 R312 DiMaggio rookie card. DiMaggio has included the inscription, “To Dr. C.G. Steen Best Wishes.” This item comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (X04719) for his signature and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P06490) classifying this photograph as a Type 1.Also included with this lot is the original letter and envelope dated January 11, 1940 that was sent to Joe DiMaggio with the above-referenced photograph that DiMaggio ultimately signed. DiMaggio has also signed this letter in blue pen when he returned the photograph with the original letter and inscribed "Yes. Would be glad to." The return envelope has Joe DiMaggio's return address from San Francisco addressed to "Dr. C.G. Steen Scottsbluff Nebr." with a postmark of February 12, 1940. The envelope measures 3 ¾ x 6 ¾ inches and was torn open at the top. The letter is 8 ½ x 11 inches and has been folded in several areas to fit into the envelope and displays toning due to age, but the signature is clear. This signed letter comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04059).
