To our knowledge, only three previous rings from the 1989 Denver Broncos have ever surfaced on the auction block—just one of which was a player example (cornerback Tyrone Braxton). This rare successor belonged to former Washington Huskies star Ron Holmes, whose 8-year NFL career included four years in Denver. Holmes started at defensive end in the 55-10 rout that was Super Bowl XXIV, and he later had this to say: "We got blown out, but I’ve had a ton of other guys ask me what that experience was like. There’s only two teams left standing at the end, and if you get shot down in the final gunfight, it sure beats coming out of the bunker and getting blown up on the first one.” Sadly, Holmes passed away in 2011 from complications of diabetes at just 48 years of age. His 10K-gold, size 12 ½ ring features 76 points of diamonds, with shank designs of the Super Bowl logo and Denver's AFC achievements. The ring is in NM condition and is accompanied by the Jostens box, box cover and warranty insert, as well as a 1998 purchase LOA.
