Soon-to-be Hall of Famer Chipper Jones played his last game on October 5, 2012 during the National League Wild Card play-in game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Turner Field in Atlanta. The Cardinals won the game 6-3 as the game was notable for not only being Chipper’s last ever game, but for the controversial infield fly rule that was called against the Braves in the bottom of the eighth inning. This “OFFICIAL BALL 2012 POSTSEASON” baseball was used during this historic game. This ball shows excellent use with dirt stains and scuff marks and a prominent dirt mark that can be attributed to a pitch thrown in the dirt by St. Louis pitcher Kyle Lohse to batter David Ross in the bottom of the second inning. Chipper Jones signed his name in bold blue pen across the sweet spot (which partially has the large dirt stain) and inscribed “Last Game 10/5/12”. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 051715) which authenticates this ball’s use in the bottom of the second inning and a COA from PSA/DNA (4A62633) for Jones’ signature and inscription.
