In 2008, the New York Yankees were gearing up for a run at their record 27th World Series victory. Although they finished 89-73, the foundation was laid for their World Series winning run the following season. They were also closing out the old Yankee Stadium, a venue that saw the franchise win 26 World Series titles and 39 American League pennants.
28 members of the 2008 Yankees signed this ball, with club manager Joe Girardi signing his name on the sweet spot. Other signatures on this Official Major League Allan H. Selig Baseball include Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Mike Mussina, Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Brett Gardner, Bobby Abreu, Carl Pavano, Darrell Rasner, Xavier Nady, Damaso Marte, Sidney Ponson, Chien-Ming Wang, Hideki Matsui, Brian Bruney, Jose Molina, David Robertson, and several more. The signatures have been written in blue pen. A Yankees final season at Yankee Stadium logo is stamped below Selig’s faux-signature. Please note that an MLB Authenticated hologram is attached to this ball, but the hologram mistakenly notates it as “Game Used Dirt”. This ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04085) for the signatures.
