Offered here is an envelope signed by Joe DiMaggio. One of the first great offensive center fielders, DiMaggio patrolled the Yankee Stadium outfield from 1936 to 1951. A three time MVP, “The Yankee Clipper” played in 10 World Series with the Bronx Bombers, winning 9. DiMaggio retired with a .325 batting average and 361 home runs. Remarkably, DiMaggio only struck out 369 times in his 15 year career. DiMaggio was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 1955.
This envelope features a commemorative 100th Anniversary of Baseball logo and a 3 cent Baseball Centennial stamp postmarked Cooperstown New York, June 12, 1939. DiMaggio signed this envelope in blue sharpie. There is very light show-through from inside the envelope. Otherwise the envelope is in fine condition. This item comes with a University Archives LOA.
