Legendary Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz wore these New Balance cleats during the 2016 Major League season, his final professional season. Ortiz proved age was just a number in 2016, leading the American League in RBI (127) and doubles (48) while batting .316 and hitting the final 38 of his 541 career home runs for the Sox. A 10-time All-Star, Ortiz is widely regarded as the best designated hitter in baseball history.

These cleats are white, black, and gray, with a worn white and gray sole. The crest of the Dominican Republic is printed on each tongue, while an image of Ortiz pointing to the heavens is printed on the inside of the tongues. A New Balance logo is applied to each side of the shoes, and “809”, the area code for the Dominican Republic, is printed on the outside of each toe. Ortiz’s number “34”, which was retired by the Red Sox during the 2017 season, is applied to the back of the shoes. Ortiz has signed each shoe on the toe in blue marker, writing “2016 GU” on the left shoe. These cleats come with a LOA from David Ortiz.
