Known simply as “The Man,” Stan Musial was one of the National League’s greatest ever ballplayers. A pure hitter, Musial played 22 seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals, earning All-Star berths in 20 of those seasons. Musial was one of the most consistent hitters ever, finishing his career with 1,815 hits at home and 1,815 hits on the road. Musial also won three MVP trophies and three World Series titles with the St. Louis Cardinals. Musial was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969.
Offered here are two baseballs signed and inscribed by Stan the Man. The first ball, an Official Allan H. Selig ball, is signed by Musial in blue ballpoint pen on the sweet spot. He added inscriptions of his statistics: “725 doubles/177 triples/475 HR’s”, “’The Man’/331 Career Average/7 NL Batting Titles/24 All Star Games”, “3x NL MVP/1943-1946-1948 W.S. Champs”, “1949 Runs/1951 RBI’s.” This item received a COA with an overall grade of 10 (auto grade 10, baseball grade 10) from PSA/DNA (H57744).
The second ball is an Official National League Leonard S. Coleman ball, and is signed by Musial in the sweet spot, inscribed “HOF 69.” Musial again inscribed his statistics on this ball. The inscriptions read “1943 NL MVP/1946 NL MVP/1948 NL MVP/1377 Extra Base Hits,” “’The Man’/331 Career Avg/7 NL Batting Titles/Batted 300+ 18 times/24 All-Star Games,” “6134 Total Bases/10972 At Bats/3026 games/1949 Runs/1951 RBI’s/3630 Hits,” “1957 S.I. Sportsman of the year/725 Doubles/177 Triples/475 HR’s.” This item comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (Y56450).
