Jorge Soler was a key piece of the Chicago Cubs lineup for the better part of the last three years. A hard hitting right fielder, Soler helped lead the Cubs to their first World Series title in 108 years. The Cubs fought tooth and nail to come back from a 3-1 deficit against the Cleveland Indians to win Game 7 by a score of 8-7. This was one of the most thrilling World Series games ever: it went to extra innings, had a rain delay, and featured a game tying home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Soler wore this blue hat during Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, in what would prove to be his final game as a Cub. He signed the brim of the cap in silver Sharpie, adding the inscription “2016 World Series Champions Game 7 G/W.” He added an inscription dedicated to the late Cuban pitcher Jose Fernandez, writing “J.F. 16” on the front left area of the cap. He wrote his number, “68,” on the inside of the size 7 1/8 cap in black ballpoint pen. This item comes with an Anderson LOA (2197).
