Featured is a The Ledger – Dispatch covering the (then) ongoing investigation of the Titanic tragedy. The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that was making her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. Along the way the ship would end up crashing into an iceberg, causing the ship’s hull plates to break inwards and allowed for water to fill into the ship. The result caused the ship to break and sink, while over 2,000 people were onboard. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough lifeboats for everyone onboard because of the lack of regulations at the time, and more than half of all passengers drowned to their deaths. A national tragedy, British and Americans sought to improve maritime efficiency and led to the creation of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, which is still a governing body today. This featured newspaper covers this tragedy, and all that was known about the incident at the time. Dated April 19, 1912, one week after the incident, this newspapers is in good condition considering its age. There are visible tears alongside the edges of all papers, however all pages still contain fully legible print and pictures. This 28 page paper stands 16 ½ x 22 inches and is a good addition for any historical collector or history buff.
