Babe Ruth Auction To Benefit Babe Ruth Foundation Closing February 18
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2017
Graded 70 EX+ 5.5 by SGC. Hall of Famer. This is one of two examples at its tier (with none graded higher) among a total of 18 copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. The 1928 set of cards issued by the George H. Ruth Candy Company of Cleveland, Ohio is comprised of six different images of the Yankee's slugger. The offered card pictures the Babe in an attractive batting pose which references his spectacular 1927 season; which saw him wallop a record 60 home runs! The offered example features a charming photograph of this New York Yankee legend, while technical faults are limited to minor toning and light rounding at its corners. Its reverse, which carries an advertisement for the candy, is extremely clean. Excellent-plus condition. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
