No artist is more identified with American sports than LeRoy Neiman. Neiman’s colorful gestural illustrations perfectly capture all the excitement and drama of the athlete’s world. This original piece shows a slightly different side to Neiman’s work. Instead of depicting a tackle or slashing golf swing, this drawing captures Marcus Allen in an unguarded moment on the Kansas City Chiefs bench intently watching the on-field action. The drawing is executed in felt tip marker with pencil notations added by the artist who has signed the left border. The 10 x 11 ½ inch drawing has been professionally matted and framed to 21 ½ x 24 ½ inch dimension. There is some light wear to the frame and the drawing itself is well preserved.
