Babe Ruth Auction To Benefit Babe Ruth Foundation Closing February 18
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2017
The 1934 All Star Game, held at Polo Grounds, was the second ever, and one of the most famous. The game is best known for Carl Hubbell’s remarkable run of five consecutive strikeouts against the American League’s most dangerous hitters. This was also Babe Ruth’s second and final All-Star Game. Ruth walked twice in four plate appearances, helping the American League to a 9-7 victory over their National League counterparts.
The item offered here is a scored program from the 1934 Mid-Summer Classic. The front page of the program features ads for Regal Shoes, Between the Acts Little Cigars, and Muriel Cigars. It was published by Harry M. Stevens, Inc. The back page is completely taken up by an ad for Sinclair Pennsylvania Motor Oil. The program is in good condition, with only slight wear and tear around the corners. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
