The 1926 World Series was an instant classic, as the St. Louis Cardinals triumphed over Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees. This series is most famous for Babe Ruth hitting three home runs in Game 4 after promising a sick child he would do so.

This ticket is for Game 1, a 2-1 Yankee victory at Yankee Stadium that would set the tone for the rest of the series. Hall of Famer Herb Pennock threw a complete game for the Yankees, striking out four. The great Lou Gehrig, also a Hall of Famer, knocked in both of New York’s runs. A humorous moment occurred in the bottom of the third inning, as Babe Ruth split his pants sliding into second base. The Yankees trainer was forced to sew the mortified Ruth’s pants while at second base. This ticket has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (14780289) and graded a GOOD 2. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
