Babe Ruth Auction To Benefit Babe Ruth Foundation Closing February 18
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2017
The 1936 World Series saw cross-town rivals New York Yankees and New York Giants battle each other for the fourth time in the World Series. The heavily favored Yankees defeated the Giants in six games, behind Lou Gehrig and rookie sensation Joe DiMaggio.
This ticket was good for Game 4, a 5-2 Yankee win at Yankee Stadium. Monte Pearson started the game for the Yankees, pitching a complete game. Hall of Famer Carl Hubbell picked up the loss for the Giants. 1936 American League MVP Lou Gehrig hit a two-run home run, his ninth World Series home run, then second all-time behind his former teammate Babe Ruth. This ticket has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (21848794), who have graded it a VG-EX 4(MK). The MK refers to a pencil inscription of the score and date of the game written on the reverse side in very small letters. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
