Babe Ruth Auction To Benefit Babe Ruth Foundation Closing February 18
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2017
The 1936 World Series pitted the two New York teams of the day, the Yankees and Giants, against each other for the fourth time since 1921. The Yankees emerged victorious in this iteration of the Fall Classic, winning in six games.
This ticket was good for Game 5 of the series at Yankee Stadium, a 5-4 10-inning Giant victory. Hal Schumacher pitched all ten innings for the Giants, striking out 10. Hall of Famer Red Ruffing hurled the first six for the Bronx Bombers. Frankie Crosetti, George Selkirk, and Tony Lazzeri picked up the Yankees’ three RBI. This ticket has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (21848795), who have graded it a VG-EX 4(MK). The MK refers to a pencil inscription of the score and date of the game written on the reverse side in very small letters. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
