This ticket was good for Game 1 of the 1939 World Series on October 1, 1939 at Yankee Stadium, a contest between the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds. Luckily, this ticket protected the holder from rainouts, as Game 1 was unable to be played until October 4. When Game 1 did happen it was an instant classic, as a Bill Terry single in the bottom of the ninth inning handed the Yanks a 2-1 victory and a 1-0 series lead. Hall of Famer Red Ruffing threw nine commanding innings to hand the Yankees the victory. The Bronx Bombers went on to win the series in four games. This ticket has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (25052111), who have graded it a GOOD 2(MK). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
