Babe Ruth’s “Called Shot” home run in the 1932 World Series remains one of baseball’s great legends. Only a player with the confidence, swagger, and skill of “The Great Bambino” could have pulled off a feat like this, telling a pitcher he would place the next ball in the stands.

Presented here is an Esquire article from August, 1945, retelling the tale of The Babe’s iconic moment. The article was written by Jack Miley, a New York-based sportswriter, who died before this article was published. Also included in this 17 x 23 inch black paper display is a painting, made specially for Esquire of the Babe pointing to center field by Douglas Crockwell. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
