Ed Barrow was a key figure in the building of the Yankees’ empire, serving as their business manager and team president from 1921 to 1945. He oversaw the creation of their dynasty, with players like Lou Gehrig, and Joe DiMaggio joining the Bronx Bombers during his tenure. Not simply a front office figure, Barrow managed the Boston Red Sox to victory in the 1918 World Series. Barrow was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953 for his contributions as a manager and team-builder.

     This letter was sent by Barrow to Yankee’s secretary and future executive Arthur “Red” Patterson. It discusses the great Babe Ruth’s last public appearance at Yankee Stadium, which was originally meant to be a Silver Anniversary celebration of the fabled stadium. This typed letter is on Mr. Barrow’s official stationary, from his address in Westchester County. Barrow added a couple of hand-written corrections to his letter. The date given on the letter is June 15th, 1948, two days after the Babe Ruth celebration at Yankee Stadium. Barrow signed the letter in black pen. This item comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (AA06135).
