A figure as bombastically larger than life as Babe Ruth deserves an appropriate portrayal. This vivid Giclee on canvas piece of artwork more than adequately captures the essence of “The Bambino.” A symbol of the Roaring Twenties, Babe is shown here gazing at a rapidly departing ball during one of his 714 home runs. Clad in his home pinstripes, the towering Ruth personifies the excellence that is demanded of the most successful franchise in American sports. This canvas was painted by renowned American sports artist Stephen Holland. Holland signed the canvas in gold marker. He added the inscription “P/P 5/15”. It is an artist’s proof, and numbered 5 of 15. The canvas measures 42 x 29 inches. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
