This poster shows the eight players that Babe Ruth picked for his personal 1931 MLB All-Star team. The players include Hall of Famers Joe Cronin, Bill Terry, Hack Wilson, Charlie Gehringer, Al Simmons, Chuck Klein, Freddie Lindstrom, and Mickey Cochrane. As this poster is an ad for Louisville Slugger bats, all of the players are pictured holding bats. The poster includes descriptions of each players bat as well. Some of them are quite unique, as Hack Wilson’s bat has the smallest handle in use by any ball player. The bat used by Al Simmons is the longest bat in baseball, measuring a solid 36 ½ inches. The back of the poster features a note to Louisville Slugger dealers and the front cover of the envelope the poster folded into. The poster measures 12 x 19 inches and is in very good condition, save for the creases where the poster was folded for shipping. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
