Larry Doby, the fleet centerfielder who integrated the American League as a member of the Cleveland Indians two months after Jackie Robinson’s Brooklyn debut, forged a Hall of Fame career. Doby hit .301 for the Indians in 1948 when the team won the World Series and twice he led the AL in home runs, and once in RBI. The seven-time All-Star fashioned a lifetime .283 average, slugged 253 home runs, and plated 970 RBI. The Veterans Committee elected Doby to the Hall of Fame in 1998, five years before his passing.
This purple Cleveland Indians felt pennant was manufactured to support Larry Doby, the first African-American to play in the Junior Circuit and the second overall after Jackie Robinson. This maroon pennant with a yellow end, features a portrait of Larry Doby with white text that reads “I’m with Larry Doby” and "CLEVELAND INDIANS". This pennant is in near mint condition and measures 11 ¼ inches wide and 28 inches long and has a pair of two tassells on the end. A great historic collectible honoring one of the great and significant players in baseball history.
