The Chicago American Giants were a charter member of the Fosters Negro National League and were the most dominant team in the Negro League era. After the collapse of the Negro National League in 1931, the Chicago American Giants changed their name to the Cole’s American Giants. In 1932, playing at the Southside Park III at the corner of 39th Avenue (now called Pershing Road) and Wentworth Avenue, the Giants would win the Negro Southern League pennant.
Offered is an official Players Pass for the Cole’s American Giants Ball Park at 39th Street and Wentworth Avenue dated to 1932 or 1933, the two years they were known as the Cole’s American Giants. This orange 3 ¼ x 2 ½ inch card features “COLE’S AMERICAN GIANTS BALL PARK” on the top and “PLAYERS PASS” in bold black print across the center. The card has an “Issued to” line and a “No.” space with a line for the signature of the “President”. This card has not been filled out and has small chip on the bottom center. The back of the card has a half of the back coating worn off and some dirt marks as well. This is truly an historical piece from the Negro League era.
