The great Satchel Paige was one of the biggest “what ifs?” in baseball history. Debuting in the Majors after his 40th birthday, Paige made his final Major League appearance at the ripe old age of 58. The lanky Paige played in the Negro Leagues during his prime, where he was famed for his time with Gus Greenlee’s Pittsburgh Crawfords, the greatest non-Major League team to ever grace the diamond. Paige has consistently been ranked as one of the greatest players in baseball history, even taking into consideration his short time in the Major Leagues.
This picture shows Paige in his St. Louis Browns jersey. Paige played for the Browns between 1951 and 1953, winning 18 games for the ballclub. He signed this photograph in black pen above the “St. Louis” on his jersey. This picture is encased in a 17x10 inch frame. This photograph comes with a full LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
