Released only three years after Robinson’s Major League debut, The 1950 release of The Jackie Robinson Story tells of Robinson’s rise from star tailback at UCLA to National League MVP for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Minor Watson portrayed Branch Rickey, while Ruby Dee played Rachel Robinson and playing the role of Jackie Robinson was Jackie Robinson himself.
Offered is this 8 x 10 inch black and white photograph of Minor Watson and Jackie Robinson during a scene of what would be a critically acclaimed movie. The picture depicts Watson with his right fist right up near Robinson’s chin as Robinson is seated with his hands folded and Watson is leaning over in front of his desk. This photograph was also used as an image for the lobby cards. “JR-74” is printed in white on the bottom right corner of the picture.
The picture is in good condition with the image being very clear. The upper right corner has been torn off and the upper left corner is bent. There are crease marks along the edges and there is wear around the edges and remaining corners. There is also a very small chip on the right side of the image. This is a tremendous photograph from the movie that told the story of Jackie Robinson.
