In 1968, the unstoppable Green Bay Packers dynasty rumbled into Super Bowl II, then known as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game, ready to defend their title. They met the Oakland Raiders of the upstart AFL at the Orange Bowl in Miami as heavy favorites. Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, and company did not disappoint, thoroughly dominating the overmatched Raiders 33-14, with the pinpoint accurate quarterback Starr earning his second consecutive Super Bowl MVP trophy.
Super Bowl II capped off the Packers golden era, when the Vince Lombardi led team won championships in 1961, ’62, ’65, ’66, and ’67. Super Bowl II would prove to be the final game Vince Lombardi ever coached for the Packers, as he stepped down in the offseason to become the team’s General Manager. No coach has ever had the same impact as Lombardi, who the Super Bowl trophy is named after. This full ticket is the yellow variation, and it has been authenticated, encapsulated, and graded a VG – EX 4 by PSA/DNA (24626293). This gorgeous ticket is a true piece of NFL history, and a stunning memento from one of the greatest coaching careers in football history.
