One of the most feared linebackers of all time, Hall of Famer Mike Singletary led the “Monsters of the Midway” defenses in the mid-1980s, including their dominant season in 1985, culminating in the victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX. This navy blue Riddell Chicago Bears helmet was worn by Singletary during his Hall of Fame career. The iconic wishbone “C” is affixed to each side of the helmet in orange with white outline. The facemask with four horizontal bars is painted navy blue, matching the helmet shell. “Ridell” is adhered to a white vinyl covering between the two center screws holding the top of the facemask on. The inner part of the helmet is lined with white padding and the NFL shield sticker is attached to the back left of the helmet. “BEARS” is affixed to the white vinyl covering that overlaps the lower back shell and the “WARNING” label sticker is in gold lettering on a blue sticker. The chinstrap is still intact and shows heavy use, along with signs of solid use on the interior of the helmet. The inner ear padding shows extensive wear and inside shell has a “WARNING” sticker and an “Inspected by 2805” sticker. This helmet displays extensive use, consistent with constant contact from the linebacker position. This helmet comes with a full LOA from Mike Singletary, who in his LOA says that the shell was used for multiple seasons and that the facemask is from the 1992 season. Hall of Famer Mike Singletary has offered to sign and/or inscribe this helmet to the winning bidder on Friday, July 28th or Saturday, July 29th at the National Sports Collectors’ Convention in Rosemont, Illinois. If the winning bidder cannot be present on July 28th or July 29th, Singletary will be willing to sign and/or inscribe this helmet in the presence of a Goldin Auctions representative.
