Presented here is a collection of two items used by long-time MLB reliever Lee Smith during his spell with the Cincinnati Reds in 1996. Smith began his penultimate season with the California Angels, before a trade in late May sent him to the banks of the Ohio River. Smith appeared in 43 games for the Reds, finishing with a 3-4 record and two saves as the Reds finished with a .500 record.

The first item in this collection is a white, pinstriped home vest worn by Smith in 1996. The Reds wishbone “C” logo is sewn on the left chest, and Smith’s number “47” is sewn on the right chest in red and white tackle twill. “SMITH” and a second “47” are sewn on the back of the jersey in red and white tackle twill beneath a Russell Athletic logo sewn on the back outside collar. A Russell Athletic size “54” tag with an attached “+6[inch] Extra Body Length” flag is sewn on the front left tail. Smith signed the “4” digit on the back in black marker, adding the inscription “Game Used”. This item comes with a LOA from Smith. The second item is a game-issued Louisville Slugger R205 model bat. “LEE SMITH” and “CINCINNATI REDS” are engraved on the barrel, while “R205 47 33-35” has been written on the knob in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from Lee Smith.
