Former all-time Major League save leader Lee Smith wore this gray Red Sox road jersey during the 1990 MLB season. A member of the Red Sox for three seasons, Smith was traded to the Cardinals in early May of 1990 for Tom Brunansky. Smith pitched in three road games for the Sox in 1990, picking up a loss in his first but collecting a save and a victory in his final two games. He likely wore this jersey during those three contests. Smith pitched in 11 total games for the Red Sox in 1990 before his trade on the fourth of May. A MLB player until 1997, Smith finished his career with a staggering 478 saves.

This gray button down jersey has “BOSTON” sewn across the chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. “SMITH” and his number “48” are sewn on the back in red and navy blue tackle twill. A black memorial armband for former player Tony Conigliaro (“Tony C”), who died in February of 1990, is sewn on the left sleeve. Rawlings size “48” and “1990” tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. A “2 Inch Extra Length” flag is attached to the Rawlings tag. Smith signed the “4” digit in black marker, adding the inscription “Game Used” to his signature. This item comes with a LOA from Lee Smith.
