Lee Smith was awarded his first Player of the Week honors in 1991 for the week of September 29th. From September 22nd to the 28th, the Cardinals closer went a perfect four-for-four in save opportunities, shutting down the Mets, Expos, and Cubs twice to earn his 42nd through 45th saves of the season. Smith finished the 1991 season with a National League-leading 47 saves and claimed the Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year award for the National League. He was awarded this watch for his Player of the Week honors.
