Although Miguel Cabrera became a household name when he helped lead the Marlins to the World Championship in his rookie year of 2003, 2012 was the historic season in which Cabrera became the first Triple Crown winner in the American League since 1967. By 2014, Cabrera was coming off back-to-back AL MVP seasons and he continued to terrorize American League pitchers to the tune of 25 home runs, 109 RBI, a .313 batting average and a league-high 52 doubles.

This offered two-tone SAM bat was used by Cabrera to hit three home runs that edged him closer to the 400 career mark. Cabrera hit the first of the attributed home runs with this bat of Astros pitcher Brad Peacock on May 7th for career home run 368. The next home run with this bat came on May 10th against Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson, which was career home run 369 and the final home run hit with this bat was career home run 370 hit off of Orioles pitcher Tommy Hunter on May 13th. The dating of this bat covers a minimum of seven games.

Cabrera’s SAM model MC1 bat shows outstanding game use amazingly is un-cracked. The barrel is covered with ball marks and stitch impressions and there are scuff marks from contact with other bats and storage, along with numerous cleat imprints. The upper handle and lower barrel has a healthy coating of pine tar the barrel end has been marked with various specification codes. By all looks and appearances, this was one of Cabrera’s favorite bats and has seen some heavy game use, highlighted by the three home runs attributed to it. To mark its significance for posterity, Cabrera has signed the barrel in gold, adding “Career Home Run #368-370”. This is a true gamer from one of the 21st Century’s greatest sluggers. The bat comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (1B14553) with a perfect GU 10 grade and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK062741) for the game use and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C10007) for the signature. Please note that the MLB hologram lists this bat as “Team Issued”, however the MLB database does date this bat to the May 13th game between the Orioles and Tigers.
