Presented here are 12 baseballs signed by former All-Star pitcher David Wells. A 239 game winner, Wells is perhaps best known for his masterful perfect game performance on May 17th, 1998. Wells, who was in the middle of an 18-4 season, sat down 27 consecutive Minnesota Twins on the 17th to complete the 15th perfect game in MLB history, and the Yankees first perfecto since Don Larsen in the ’56 World Series. Coincidentally, Larsen and Wells attended the same San Diego-area high school.
Wells signed each of these Official Major League Allan H. Selig Major League stamped baseballs in blue pen on the sweet spot. He added the inscription “P.G. 5-17-98”. Each of these baseballs comes with a individual COAs from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C11943 through C11954).
