Presented here is a check signed by Jackie Robinson that helped pay the way for a recent graduate of Loyola University, Thomas E. Curtis, to attend the International Student Movement for the United Nations conference in Yugoslavia. This check is dated to August 11, 1961, and is for the value of $300.00. Robinson signed the bottom of the check in blue pen above Marion B. Logan, a New York-based cabaret singer and civil rights activist. This item has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (83963254).
Also included is a postcard from Curtis addressed to Marion Logan. This postcard measures 5 ½ x 3 ½ inches and shows a color photograph of Geneva. Curtis filled out the post card in blue pen. Various forms from Chase National Bank accompany this postcard, as well as a Chock Full o’ Nuts branded envelope addressed to Marion Logan. Finally, a typed letter from the Collegiate Council to the United Nations signed by Joan Clark, the director of the program, sent to Marion Logan is included.
