Presented here is a lot of 63 photographs originating from Casey Stengel’s personal collection. Active in Major League Baseball from 1912 to 1965, Stengel was a tidy player who eventually became revered as the manager of the New York Yankees. The photographs in this collection are extremely varied, and range from portraits of Hall of Famers to Stengel enjoying a ticker-tape parade after one of his many World Series titles. One of the highlights in this lot is a team photograph of the 1929 Yankees from Spring Training. Players in this photograph include Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, and the team mascot Eddie Bennett. The facsimile signatures of the players, coaches, and staff surround the 8 x 10 inch photograph. Also included are team photographs from 1950, 1951 (x2), and 1958 Yankee teams.

A picture of Stengel and former Kokutetsu Swallows manager and player Soichi Fujita is included. The two men are relaxing in a dugout, Stengel in his road uniform and Fujita in his home whites. Fujita has signed this picture in black pen.

Another photograph of Stengel and a foreign emissary is included. Stengel is shown greeting Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie during his 1954 visit to New York City. Selassie saw the Yankees play during a sightseeing trip on his New York visit. There are ten headshots of Stengel with facsimile signatures, as well as publicity headshots of Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Bob Feller, and Dizzy Dean.
