Presented here is a lobby card for a party honoring the 20th anniversary of the Fight of the Century between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. This was the first of three titanic bouts between Frazier and Ali, which Frazier claimed in 15 rounds. This was the only win in the three fights for Frazier, and it remains one of the most iconic fights in the long history of the sweet science. This lobby card, which was hung in the Bellevue building on 200 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, has been signed by Ali, Frazier, and LeRoy Neiman, who created art and posters for the original fights between Ali and Frazier. Ali drew a squiggly circle around his signature, adding the inscription “To Carl / From / Muhammad Ali / 4-13-91”. Frazier signed his name beneath Ali, and Neiman added his signature near the right border of the 15 ½ x 11 ½ item. The signatures have been written in black marker. An ad for James Brown’s “Living in America” special shares space on the lobby card with the boxing promotion. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A81841).
