Longtime ABA and NBA shooting guard Ron Boone wore this Utah Stars jersey during the 1971-72 ABA season. The ABA’s third-leading scorer, Boone played all 84 games for the Stars that season, averaging 13 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the LaDell Anderson coached team. The Stars, ABA champions the previous season, finished with 60 wins, advancing to the ABA Western Division Finals before a seven-game loss to the Indiana Pacers ended their hopes of a repeat. Boone, who would be named to the ABA All-Time team in 1996-97, played in the ABA until 1976, and then played five more seasons in the NBA with the Lakers, Kings, and Jazz.
This jersey is a white Rawlings knit home pullover with “STARS” sewn across the chest in red and blue tackle twill. Boone’s number “24” is sewn on the front and back in blue and red tackle twill. “BOONE” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue and red tackle twill. A Rawlings size “44” tag is sewn on the back left inside tail of the jersey, along with a “Wolf’s” and washing instructions tag. This jersey, which shows moderate wear, comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
Also included is Boone’s warm up shooting jacket. This white, faux-fur, snap front warm-up has “UTAH STARS” sewn across the chest in blue and red tackle twill. An American flag patch is sewn on the left sleeve, while an ABA Champions patch, honoring the Stars’ 1970-71 title, is sewn on the right sleeve. A snap-on white nameplate with “BOONE” sewn on in blue tackle twill is attached to the back of the jacket. A Rawlings size “46 L” tag is sewn on the inside right placket. The number “12” is written in black marker on the washing instructions tag. This jacket, which shows light wear, comes with a LOA from Dave Miedema.
