Jimmy Jones played professional basketball for 10 seasons, with seven of those taking place in the ABA. Jones, a member of the ABA All-Time team, made six All-Star appearances in his ABA career, which spanned from 1967 to 1974. He averaged 19.2 points per game in his ABA career, which saw him play for the New Orleans Buccaneers, Memphis Pros, and Utah Stars.
These shorts were worn by Jones during the 1972-73 era, when he suited up for the Utah Stars. An All-Star that season, Jones averaged 16.7 points and 5.6 assists per game. The Stars won 55 regular season games, advancing to the ABA Western Division Finals before a six-game loss to George McGinnis and the Indiana Pacers ended their season. The shorts are red, white, and blue, with a Utah flag sewn on the right leg and an American flag sewn on the left. 10 red tackle twill stars are sewn on the white waistband. Two Sand-Knit tags, one with an attached size “36” flag and the other with “13” written in black marker, are sewn on the back inside area of the shorts.
The offered jacket cannot be attributed to use by one specific player, but it was used during the 1970-72 era. The Stars won the 1970-71 ABA championship, framed by titles won by the Indiana Pacers in 1970 and 1972. This short-sleeved, quarter button down road warm-up jacket has a circular Stars patch sewn on the left chest. A Rawlings size “36” tag is sewn on the back inside collar. The sleeves, collar, and waist feature a red and white pattern. The jacket and shorts come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
