Along with his feats on the baseball diamond that earned him a place in both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the College Baseball Hall of Fame, in 2004 ESPN named Dave Winfield the third-best all-around athlete of all time in any sport. Winfield earned a full baseball scholarship to the University of Minnesota in 1969, where he starred in baseball and basketball for the Golden Gophers.

Following college, Winfield was drafted by four professional teams in three different sports. The San Diego Padres selected him as a pitcher with the fourth overall pick in the MLB draft and both the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) and the Utah Stars (ABA) drafted him for basketball. Though he never played college football, the Minnesota Vikings selected Winfield in the 17th round of the NFL draft. In the Major Leagues, Winfield was a 12-time All-Star, World Series champion, 7-time Gold Glove Award winner, 6-time Silver Slugger Award winner, AL Comeback Player of the Year in 1990 and Roberto Clemente Award recipient.

Winfield add a World Series title to his already impressive resume’ when he joined the Toronto Blue Jays for the 1992 season. This offered Louisville Slugger W273 model bat was used by Winfield during his only season in Toronto and displays excellent use and is un-cracked. There are numerous ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat imprints present on the barrel. The handle has been heavily taped in an overlapping pattern to enhance the grip. Winfield signed his name in gold pen on the barrel and inscribed “To Lee All The Best” and “’92”, presumably to former pitcher Lee Smith. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14558) who have graded this bat a solid GU 9 and a LOA from former Major League pitcher Lee Smith for the game use and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C11900) for the signature.
