Graded NM 7 (OC) by PSA. Among a total of nineteen copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, just five examples have been graded EX-MT 6 or higher; none has been assessed higher than unqualified NM 7. Presented here is a depiction of veteran backstop Benny Bengough, who's almost certainly the most hotly pursued "common" player this side of Andy Pafko. This especially scarce Bengough likeness emanates from Canada's counterpart to the beloved R319 Goudey baseball issue sold in the United States. (Card #'s 1 through 52 mimic the American edition, player-for-player, but World Wide Gum versions are easily identifiable by the bilingual biographies found on the reverse of each card.) The card of Benny Bengough is virtually always found with a more-pronounced level of wear and tear than the huge majority of its '33 Goudey counterparts. The offered example, one that eluded the perils of rubber banding and Coke spills that so often befell the first card in its release, is a very worthy candidate to assume the face-up position in a fine modern reconstruction of its series. Only faint, past touches are discernible on the collectible's notably sharp corners, and the card's reverse is boldly printed. Aesthetically satisfying and remarkably well-preserved Near Mint condition (qualified as noted on the basis of rightward image alignment).
