Presented here is a collection of Muhammad Ali’s 1963 tax documents encased in a 23 x 30 inch framed display. Ali, who first achieved worldwide fame in 1960 as a gold medalist in the Rome Olympics, was still a relative neophyte in the boxing world in 1963. His first major professional fight was held in 1964, against Sonny Liston. Ali won this fight after Liston refused to come out of his corner to start the seventh round. These financial documents relate to his income tax, and his accounting company, Yeager, Ford & Warren, which at the time was based in Louisville, Ali’s hometown. There are four total tax documents here, as well as a picture of a young Ali cut out of a magazine. Additionally, a small cut signed by Ali is included. He signed it as Cassius Clay, and added the date “Feb 3-1964”. This item is accompanied by a LOA from JSA (Z31774), which authenticates the cut signature.
