Legendary New York Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle has signed his name on the sweet spot of this Official American League Bobby Brown baseball in blue pen. The elder Mantle, who wanted nothing more than for his son to become a star athlete, named the young Mickey after Mickey Cochrane, the Hall of Fame catcher for the Detroit Tigers and Mutt’s favorite player. Luckily for the young Mick, Mutt did not know that Cochrane’s given name was “Gordon”!
Mantle played his entire Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees as a centerfielder and first baseman from 1951 through 1968. Renowned as one of the best players and sluggers to ever grace the diamond, he is regarded by many as the greatest switch hitter in baseball history. Mantle was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY in 1974. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z19564).
