Dwight Gooden stormed onto the Major League scene in 1984 where he captured the National League Rookie of the Year Award and finished second in the Cy Young vote. Gooden led the NL in strikeouts with 276, earning him the nickname “Dr. K”. However, Gooden had a decent year at the plate too as the 19-year-old had a respectable .200 batting average with 14 hits and three RBI.

This offered Adirondack/Rawlings 113A model bat was used by Gooden during his debut campaign in 1984. This bat displays outstanding use and has a crack on the handle that has been secured. There is slight checking or grain swelling on the barrel from repeated ball contact and there are cleat imprints and other abrasions consistent with the outstanding game use. The model number “113A” has been stamped onto the knob and Gooden has signed this bat in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “Game used 1984”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B09611) for the game use and a COA from PSA/DNA (X90381) for his signature.
