Lou Whitaker played every single one of his 2,390 career games for the Detroit Tigers, beginning with his 11 game cup-of-coffee in 1977. The American League Rookie of the Year in 1978, Whitaker combined with Allan Trammell to form the longest running double-play combo in MLB history. A five-time All-Star and beloved Tiger, Whitaker collected 244 home runs and 1,084 RBI in his distinguished career.

Whitaker used this Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick 323B bat during the 1987 season, when he made his fifth All-Star team and won a Silver Slugger Award. Whitaker finished the season with 16 homers and 59 RBI, as well as 38 doubles. The bat is un-cracked, and displays outstanding use. There is some checking, due to repeated ball contact, on the barrel. Whitaker’s number “1” is hand written on the knob in silver marker. The handle is taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip.

This bat has been signed in silver marker by more than 20 members of the 1987 Tigers, including Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson. Other signatures include Whitaker, Allan Trammell, Kirk Gibson, Jack Morris, Willie Hernandez, Frank Tanana, Vada Pinson, Bill Madlock, Bill Consolo, Johnny Grubb, Larry Herndon, Darnell Coles, Dan Petry, Matt Nokes, Jeff Robinson, Dick Tracewski, Mike Heath, Billy Muffett, and several more. The signatures have been written in silver marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14588), who have graded this bat a perfect GU 10 for the game use and a LOA from JSA (Z58609) for the signatures.
