Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk was a major in the 509th Composite Group during World War II. As a member of the 509th, Van Kirk served as the navigator for the Enola Gay B-29 Superfortress bomber during its assault on Hiroshima. This is a 1st generation copy from the original individual flight record for Dutch Van Kirk, which has been reproduced on tan paper. It has been signed by Van Kirk, Morris Jeppson, and Paul Tibbets. These three men were all a part of the fateful Enola Gay mission. Van Kirk added the inscription “Navigator, Enola Gay / Hiroshima 6 Aug 1945”. Jeppson wrote “Electronic Test Officer”, and Tibbets wrote “Pilot and C.O. 509th Composite Group”. The signatures have been written in blue fine-tipped marker. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AB12710).
