On April 15, 2013, two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The senseless attack killed three people and wounded several hundred others, leaving the city in mourning. That fall, while the Boston community was still trying to recover from that horrific day, the Red Sox were able to bring some much-needed joy and a collective smile to the people of their town by winning the World Series. The city and the Red Sox were indeed “Boston Strong”. The squad that did more than capture the title that season – they brought hope, assistance and a welcomed distraction to all their fans – was led by David Ortiz, who hit .309 with 30 home runs and 103 RBI. Dustin Pedroia batted .301 and Jacoby Ellsbury hit .298 with 52 stolen bases. On the mound, Jon Lester finished with a record of 15-8, while Clay Buchholz was a ridiculous 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA.
Available here is a 2013 Boston Red Sox World Series Championship ring presented to Nelson Paulino, who was a coach in Boston’s minor league system. The center of the ring prominently displays the Red Sox logo, made up of nine rubies, that sits atop an image of the Commissioner’s Trophy that reads “2013” at the bottom. 16 synthetic sapphires surround the trophy. The ring’s top also reads “BOSTON RED SOX WORLD CHAMPIONS” which is surrounded by small round brilliant diamonds (126 diamonds in all, weighing approximately two carats total). The Red Sox “B” – in red enamel – appears on the left shank above the word “STRONG” with the year 2013 shown at the bottom. Paulino’s name is displayed at the top of the ring’s other side, sitting above three World Series trophies, marked with title years ’04, ’07 and ’13. “MIN LG” can be read at the bottom. The inside of the band features an image of a bearded man’s face along with the words “BEARDED BROTHERS” and is dated “10-30-13”. This Jostens silver elite ring (with manufacturer mark inside the band) weighs approximately 55.8 grams and is an approximate size 11. Also includes the ring presentation box that reads “BOSTON RED SOX WORLD CHAMPIONS 2013 NELSON PAULINO” along with the Red Sox team logo.
