Presented here is a copy of the New York Times rotogravure picture section from October 14th, 1923. This issue is replete with pictures of the contemporary sporting culture, and shows numerous baseball photographs from the 1923 World Series. One of the main attractions is Babe Ruth, who is shown recording his first hit of the 1923 Fall Classic. Ruth hit three homers in the World Series against the Giants, helping the Yankees to their first ever title and the fourth of his career. Numerous other fascinating photographs are included in this issue, including pictures of Kenesaw Mountain Landis, “Giff” Zimmerman, “Miss R.E. Thompson”, and Edmund Papineau, Jr., a child who “makes a pet of a Six-Foot Mexican Bull Snake”. This paper measures 22 x 16 ½ inches, and is in good condition save for some small rips and tears brought on by age.
