Presented here is a cut signed by two members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The first signatory on this cut is Ted Williams. The last man to hit over .400 in MLB, Williams is perceived by many as one of the greatest hitters of all-time. Williams has the highest on base percentage in MLB history, while also reaching the 500 home run club and recording a career batting average of .344.
The second man to sign this cut is Billy Evans, who made his debut as a MLB umpire in 1906 at the fresh age of 22. The youngest ump in history, Evans was involved in many famous games, plays, and events during his 21 seasons as an umpire. Famously, Evans engaged in a fist fight with the temperamental Ty Cobb after the two disagreed on calls during a Tigers game. Evans, who later became one of the first modern General Managers, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, only the third umpire to be honored with a spot in Cooperstown. The signatures on this cut of line paper were written in blue, fine tipped marker. The signed paper was subsequently affixed to a 3 x 5 inch slice of line paper. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58573).
