In 1960, the New York Yankees advanced to the World Series with the full expectation of defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates and receiving a ticker tape parade through New York. However, they did not count on the Pirates extending the Fall Classic to seven games, which led to one of the great moments in baseball history. Light hitting Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Bill Mazeroski cranked the only World Series ending home run (to that point) in the history of the World Series, taking Bill Terry deep as the first batter of the final frame. Luckily for the Yankees, they quickly put this failure behind them and annihilated the Cincinnati Reds in the very next World Series.
