In 1946, the Boston Red Sox made their first appearance in the World Series since the days of Babe Ruth. They faced the St. Louis Cardinals in the Fall Classic, valiantly fighting until the very end of the seventh game, when Enos Slaughter sprinted around the bases on his “Mad Dash” to win the series for St. Louis. Although the Red Sox did not win the World Series, there were many reasons to be proud of the season they had. Ted Williams returned from service in WWII to claim the American League MVP Award, and Tex Hughson and Dave Ferriss combined to win 45 games.

Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Tris Speaker signed the sweet spot, while fellow Hall member Bob Doerr signed just beneath the Reach logo. Other signatures include Rudy York, Hal Wagner, Joe Wood, Bob Ferris, Charlie Wagner, Dom DiMaggio, Del Baker, Tom McBride, Joe Dobson, Wally Moses, Paul Campbell, Roy Partee, and several more.
